Felt Love & A Mouse House

 

  Real mice creep me out.It's their tails that make my skin crawl.If it doesn't have fur on it's tail....I'd rather be in a room with a lion! Then I found this at The G.W. Boutique.That's just a fancy name for Goodwill! This would be a great home for a mouse family.

Then, I felt a story coming on.You're only getting the teeny,tiniest version!

 

 

 

 I got to work and made this sweet little family.The rug was cut from a felted sweater and glued to the inside of the lid.The wall art is vintage crocheted flowers.A mouse house!

 

 

Daisy and Violet are lonely, old spinster mouse sisters.

(Table and chairs  from Dollar Tree. I just put my own touch on them.)

 

 

They just love to decorate with found treasures.

The best part,Santa left a baby at their door! Now their home is complete and a little girl is thrilled with her gift.

  Sorry,it's been so long since I've posted anything.Yes,like a whole year! What can I say? Well,there's been a few big changes in my life.We have moved about 8 miles up the road. Our youngest graduated from college and has ended up on the west coast.Our sweet faithful labs,Hunter and Roxy are roaming fields in the sky instead of the local football field! No matter what we tried,couldn't keep those labs home!Maddie and Lilly continue to entertain us and fill our lives with such joy.Best of all,I have grown in my relationship with my Heavenly Father.He is totally awesome!!!!
   I have some completed projects I will be sharing.Terry has been building a playhouse from recycled barn wood.Which I'm sure you'll find interesting.I can't wait to decorate the inside.Yes,Maddie and Lilly you have to share with Mimi! Will be decorating the master bedroom on a puny budget.Hope you'll follow along,cause you never know what you'll find here! Could even be a mouse house!

  Aren't these hoops just adorable? Can't get more simple than this! I've started collecting embroidery hoops to make these.

Love these colors!Wish I were brave enough to use such a bold wall color.I have a feeling this Pinterest thing may get me into some trouble. Oh well,there's worse habits!

Sometimes we just accumulate too many things and they no longer seem special. You see this Valentine, was picked just for me by my little granddaughter last Valentines Day from the local antique shop.It's special,because lots of love came with it.She was so proud when she gave it to me. The others have no meaning for me,other than I want to share them with you and I truly love giving things away!

I remember Dad buying Mom this lamp when I was a very young child. Seems as though it's always been  in my life.

Choir Girls Attack!

Aren't they innocent looking,singing in the church choir?

Hmmm......There were twenty carloers up there.That's strange!

Woo Hoo! A Winner & Some Fall Decor

 I decided our red door was in need of a change. My dear husband painted it for me.I threw up an old shutter with a simple wreath. I 'm quite pleased with the look! I plan on keeping the shutter and just changing the wreath for Christmas.

 Love this adorable vintage rake. It was a gift from my dear friend Sandra. My favorite color too. She gets me!

Some sweet quail eggs added to an abandoned bird's nest found in the barn These speak for themselves.

Fabric Pumpkin Tutorial

 As promised,I am sharing how I made these  fabric pumpkins. You will need fabric of choice, beans (if you want the bottoms weighted), fiber fill stuffing, embroidery floss(thread is too weak), pumpkin stem, and hot glue gun.

 Start with a circle of fabric. I traced a 16" pizza pan for a pumpkin about the size of a real pie pumpkin. The circle size can be rather deceiving,because you think a big circle will give you a big pumpkin. Not so!

 Next, using a full strand of embroidery floss in a big eye needle baste around the edge of the circle. I used fairly large stitches. Make sure you have a decent knot in the end of the floss before you start basting.The knot will have to withstand a lot of stress.

 Gather the circle into a bag. DO NOT unthread your needle. You will need to stitch the hole tightly closed later.

                         Pour about 1-2 cups of dried beans in if you want the bottom weighted.

                              Now stuff with fiber fill to your liking. Maddie has this process down!

  

Pull floss very tight and stitch closed. Hot glue a stem on. Rub some cloves or cinnamon in around the stem if you like.

A dear friend came for a visit all the way from Texas. While we were out gallivanting around we came across some pumpkins similar to these. Theirs were beautiful,but way out of our price range. So, what do you do when you can't get the dang things out of your mind? Make your own of course!

By the way,remember this garage sale find? It was a footstool.

I'm in love!

If you want to make some too,start gathering up some pumpkin stems. We found a lot of ours on the ground surrounding the pumpkins at a farmers market. I will be posting the tutorial tomorrow.

On a few I rubbed some ground cloves for a more realistic look. Plus the smell is ,well wonderful!

Maddie even helped.

 

She made this sweet little one all her by herself!
